ASE certifications require knowledge beyond what is typically acquired during day-to-day work and provide a comprehensive understanding of entire vehicle systems, including their detailed complexities. Certification also requires a financial investment that only serious technicians are willing to make, so technicians train and study rigorously to pass the certification tests. Through this continued education process, technicians expand their knowledge, increase their capabilities, and provide more efficient service to customers.

  • Increased Customer Value – More capable technicians provide greater value by helping ensure your vehicle’s problem is diagnosed and repaired the first time correctly.
  • Save Customers Money – A more efficient technician can save you money by reducing the labor time required to diagnose and repair your vehicle’s problems.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, or ASE, offers a comprehensive certification program for automotive professionals. The A Series focuses on automobile and light truck certification, the L Series covers advanced-level specialized testing, and the C Series focuses on consultative and customer service skills. Located at 9025 Meadowbrook Way SE, Snoqualmie, WA 98065, Gere Auto Repair employs technicians who have completed all eight A-Series certifications, as well as all three L-Series certifications for gasoline, hybrid, and electric cars and light trucks.

To achieve ASE Master-Level Certification, technicians must pass all eight A-Series certification tests, A1 through A8, listed below.

  • A1: Engine Repair – Covers the diagnosis, repair, and service of gasoline engine blocks and cylinder head issues.
  • A2: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle – Focuses on diagnosing and repairing automatic transmissions and transaxles.
  • A3: Manual Drive Train and Axles – Covers manual transmissions, clutches, differentials, and driveshafts.
  • A4: Suspension and Steering – Tests knowledge of steering systems, suspension components, wheel alignments, and tires.
  • A5: Brakes – Covers hydraulic systems, drum brakes, disc brakes, and anti-lock braking systems.
  • A6: Electrical/Electronic Systems – Tests knowledge of general electrical systems, including batteries, starting and charging systems, and lighting.
  • A7: Heating and Air Conditioning – Covers air conditioning systems, heating systems, and automatic HVAC climate controls.
  • A8: Engine Performance – Focuses on ignition, fuel, exhaust, and emission control systems.

True experts go beyond Master-Level Certification. Below are the advanced-level certifications available to shops specializing in gasoline-powered cars and light trucks. Gere Auto Repair maintains multiple Master-Level technicians with L-Series Advanced-Level Certifications to ensure our team can diagnose even the most complex vehicle problems efficiently and cost-effectively. Call us today at (425) 292-0515 to schedule your appointment.

  • L1: Advanced Engine Performance Specialist – Focuses on computer-controlled gasoline engines, emission controls, and the diagnosis of complex drivability issues. A8 Engine Performance Certification is a prerequisite.
  • L3: Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist – Covers the unique safety, maintenance, and diagnostic needs of hybrid and electric vehicles.
  • L4: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Specialist – Focuses on the diagnosis, service, and calibration of radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensors.
